What remains in “The Process”?

With the recent selection of Markelle Fultz as the number one overall pick, Sixers fans are seeing Sam Hinkie’s master plan coming to fruition. The young nucleus of the FEDS(Fultz, Embiid, Dario, Simmons) has the Sixers poised for a possible playoff birth this upcoming season. As “The Process” continues and anticipation for the upcoming season grows, many people wonder what task remains, that when completed, will truly complete “The Process”.

SIGN TWO to THREE ABOVE AVERAGE VETERANS or ONE SUPERSTAR IN THEIR PRIME

Although the addition of JJ Reddick and Amir Johnson this offseason helped add veterans to a very young lineup, the Sixers still require seasoned NBA Players that can be a strong, leadership presence in the locker room. The 2018 NBA offseason has some interesting prospects that could add value to the team: A player like Avery Bradley adds strong perimeter defense to a team that desperately needs it.

In addition, a solid player like Derrick Favors could be a great interior scorer and rebounder that could help space the floor for Embiid and or Saric. On the other hand, Jerry Colangelo could continue to be patient until the 2019 offseason and use a huge chunk of their cap space to go get a superstar like Klay Thompson, John Wall, or Kemba Walker. Either one of these moves could propel the Sixers to championship contenders in a weak eastern conference that has a deteorating Cavaliers team.

Personally, I see Cleveland dominating the eastern conference for the next 2-3 years. Even with the addition of Gordon Hayward, the Celtics are two to three players away from even contending with LeBron James. After LeBron exits his prime, I feel like for the next 6-7 years, the Sixers and the Celtics will be battling it out in the ECF to see who makes the NBA Finals with the series being evenly matched. The evident problem is the Golden State Warriors don’t look like they are going away anytime soon. Hopefully, injuries will plague their team just when the post-Process Sixers reach their peak and they can snag a couple titles. I am extremely excited to see what the future holds, but even when the times get tough I always remember to Trust the Process.
